Lunds Four Wheel Drive is a family owned business that has been operating since 1974. After being operated by the Burns family for 28 years the business changed hands to the O’Brien family in July 2002. The O’Brien family have a long and successful background in the motor industry. Their intentions are to continue developing on the existing attributes that have made Lunds 4WD successful.

The business started as a wrecking yard retailing secondhand parts to the Cairns and Far North Queensland market. With the growing popularity of four wheel drive vehicles in Australia, brought on particularly by the Toyota Landcruiser, it was soon realised that an alternative source of parts had to be found. Sources of genuine and non-genuine parts were found, mainly in the Asian markets, however due to the quantities required to make importing viable it was necessary to expand our market beyond the traditional base. We literally took to the streets knocking on doors town to town and eventually state to state around Australia.

Today Lunds 4WD imports parts from Japan, Taiwan, China, India and the United Kingdom. We supply parts to suit Toyota, Nissan, Land Rover and Suzuki four wheel drive vehicles. We service a client base of in excess of 600 customers, covering every state of Australia and Papua New Guinea.

The business has grown by focusing on the following key attributes:

• Stocking a comprehensive range of parts, including slow moving items. Our inventory covers some 5,000 part numbers.
• Carrying stock on hand to ensure continuity of supply. Stock worth well in excess of $1,000,000 is held on hand at all times. We can consistently supply 95% of orders for catalogue part numbers every day.
• Providing a consistently reliable service. Our experienced Parts Interpreters are able to provide solutions to most enquiries.
• Having an expert knowledge of freight issues throughout Australia. We have contractual arrangements that cover most freight circumstances ensuring value for money for even our most remote customers. We can deliver overnight to most locations within Australia.
• Knowing our customers. We get to know our customers and are prepared to tailor make solutions to their needs.
